MORNING LIGHT MINISTRY offers, once a year, a 7 week Series that explores the question, "Where is God in all of this?" This is an opportunity to share your experience with other bereaved parents and to discover how God has not abandoned us as we travel on our faith and grief journeys. In the last week we celebrate a special Mass in memory of our babies who have died.
Individual help in person is available throughout the year on request.
A lending library of books (spiritual and secular) is also available. The library includes books on bereavement from a perinatal (baby bereavement) perspective. Also included in the library are books for children discussing death from a Christian perspective.
"I feel very angry at God"
"God has deserted me"
"Why has God done this to my baby and to me?"
"Is God punishing me?"
These are some examples of common questions and feelings from parents about God after the death of their babies through eptopic pregnancy, miscarriage, stillbirth or early infant death.
An extended version of the above pamphlet is available from MORNING LIGHT MINISTRY (see the attached order form)
We, at MORNING LIGHT, are pleased to announce the printing of a non-profit book entitled,
"MORNING LIGHT: MISCARRIAGE, STILLBIRTH AND EARLY INFANT DEATH FROM A CATHOLIC PERSPECTIVE".
The proceeds from this book go towards the production of the book and the volunteer work of MORNING LIGHT MINISTRY. See the attached order form for information.
His Eminence Aloysius Cardinal Ambrozic, Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Toronto, has
granted his IMPRIMATUR and His Excellency, Terrence Prendergast, S.J. Archbishop of
Halifax has written a forward:
"The loss of a child by eptoptic pregnancy, miscarriage, stillbirth or early
infant death touched parents deeply. The reflections, prayers and coping suggestions of
Bernadette Zambri beautifully entitled MORNING LIGHT will contribute much to healing the
pain of loss. I pray that this book, written from a Catholic perspective and steeped in
the truths of our faith, may help many to find peace in and with God."
The book includes, from a Catholic perspective:
1) The experiences of many parents whose babies have died through eptoptic pregnancy, miscarriage, stillbirth or early infant death.
2) The spiritual journey of the author's own experience of her daughter's' death, from the feelings of despair and abandonment by God to a spiritual thirst that strengthens her relationship with God in a profound way.
3) Practical suggestions for bereaved parents such as: ways to mourn, way s to remember, ways to communicate with a spouse and other children, ways to get closer to God in such a devastating time. There is also a chapter on RESOURCES in the Catholic Community as well as secular resources.
4) Practical suggestions for clergy:
a) "PRACTICAL SUGGESTIONS FOR PRIESTS WHEN DEALING WITH MISCARRIAGE, STILLBIRTH AND EARLY INFANT DEATH" by Fr. Keith Wallace, Pastor of St. Mary Star of the Sea Parish, Mississauga
b) "A CATHOLIC PRAYER SERVICE FOR YOUR BABY WHO HAS DIED THROUGH MISCARRIAGE STILLBIRTH AND EARLY INFANT DEATH" by Bernadette & Onofori Zambri. The Prayer Service itself may be photocopied.
Fr. Wayne Manne, Pastor of St.Marguerite d'Youville Parish, Brampton, describes in the book how he has found this Service helpful in ministering to bereaved parents.
COMMENTS REGARDING THE BOOK
"MORNING LIGHT: MISCARRIAGE, STILLBIRTH AND EARLY INFANT DEATH FROM A CATHOLIC PERSPECTIVE" by Bernadette Zambri
"It is wonderful. I read it for two days straight and have started a second reading. The author managed to show how each story is truly unique and special. She did so in a way which showed how each baby was loved and the pleasure that they brought to their families in their short lives (inside and outside the womb)" A Bereaved Parent
"I found that this book gave me inner peace. I felt life I was the only person going through this. I could really relate to other parent's stories. It gave me peace of mind to know that someone out there understands my great loss." A Bereaved Parent
"I found the book to be a perfect combination of religious support, helpful information and personal stories that continue to help me through the many rough days and help calm my sense of isolation. Bernadette Zambri has written a 'personal friend' for each of us who have lost a child so we don't have to journey alone." A Bereaved Parent
" I find that MORNING LIGHT is really from a Christian perspective rather than just a Catholic perspective. It deals with the raw emotions and spiritual confusion of bereaved parents in a very honest and real way. I personally found it enhanced my spiritual journey. Even though, it's been several years since the death of my son, I found it comforting and helpful to revisit the Old Testament references to baby loss. I found the suggestion of using lamentation as a form of prayer to be an exciting idea." A Bereaved Parent Form Another Christian Denomination
"This book is inspired ...I read it from cover to cover in just two days." A Bereaved Grandparent
"The stories are so touching, the mediations inspiring and creative work and ideas for growth abundant. This has truly been a work of love of God." A Non-Bereaved Parent
"This book has very practical suggestions, especially for those of us who haven't experienced this type of loss ourselves. The notes of hope throughout are not just mindless optimism, but carefully though-out and well phrased, convincing ideas. This book will change people's lives." A Non-Bereaved Parent
"Hundreds of grieving families will find healing from their pain through this book and feel once again 'God is love'." A Roman Catholic Priest
